What a fantastic and busy final term we have had in 2nd Class!

Our school tour to Blackrock Castle Observatory was a huge highlight. We had great fun making our own rockets, exploring the castle, and climbing all the way to the top where we were greeted with some wonderfully misty views! We followed our visit with a trip to Airtastic for a game of bowling, which brought lots of excitement, laughter, and a little friendly competition.

This term, we have really enjoyed our yoga sessions with Karen. These have been a lovely opportunity for us to slow down, stretch, and practise mindfulness together.

Our trips to the community gardens in Clashduv and Tory Top have been particularly special. We have loved getting hands-on with nature – weeding, planting, and maintaining the gardens. Back at school, we continued our gardening work and even built our very own man-made pond, inspired by the beautiful one in Clashduv. It has been amazing to see it develop and begin to show signs of life. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who made all of this possible – we are so grateful for your time, energy, and support.

We were also very lucky to work with an artist who showed us the power of sunlight in creating art. It was fascinating to see how nature and creativity can come together in such a unique way.

Our Friday boogies have continued to be a firm favourite – a joyful and energetic way to end each week, and definitely one of our highlights of 2nd Class! We finished off the term in style with a class disco, we whipped out a disco ball and turned the classroom into a dancefloor.

We were honoured to present to the whole school during Neurodiversity Awareness Week. We had great fun learning about and exploring our own brains. Some of us discovered we have “shredder brains” that forget information quickly, “submarine brains” that like to dive deep and think carefully, and “balloon brains” that can float away if not held on to! It sparked lots of interesting conversations – what kind of brain do you have?

We were also very lucky to celebrate together with a delicious pizza party from Tom Tom’s, which was a real treat and a lovely way to mark all of our hard work this term.

When the weather was kind to us, we made great use of our new picnic benches and loved having our lunch al fresco together – a simple pleasure that we all really enjoyed.

Finally, we have loved turning our class novel into our very own picture books. We were so proud to invite younger classes to visit and share our stories with them – a wonderful way to celebrate all our hard work.

It has been a truly memorable term filled with learning, creativity, and fun. Well done to all the boys and girls for their enthusiasm and effort throughout the year!
