South Lee Educate Together National School is a new primary school that opened in August 2019 on the grounds of Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, Tramore Road, Cork. We strive for excellence in everything that we do. We are passionate about education and believe that a child learns best in a supportive environment. This involves partnership with the parents of our school. We implement best practice based on experience, evidence based programmes and the latest educational research.

Junior Infants is the first year in primary school. Children in Junior Infants are aged 4-5 years old. In Junior Infants, the children are in school for a shorter day than the senior classes (08:30 – 13:10). The children partake in 12 subject areas and learn in a thematic approach. Children partake in the 3 core subjects every day.

Senior Infants is the second year in primary school. Children in Senior Infants are aged 5-6 years old. Infant classes have a shorter day than the rest of the school (08:30 – 13:10). They cover the 12 curriculum subjects with the inclusion of Aistear which is an integrated learning programme through play. 1st Class is the third year in primary school. Children in 1st Class are aged 6-7 years old. 1st Class is the first year of a full school day for the children (08:20 – 14:00.) In first class, the children partake in 12 subject areas. The children learn in a thematic approach. Children partake in the 3 core subjects every day.

Second Class is the fourth year in primary school and typically accommodates students aged 7 to 8. It marks a stage where foundational skills are built upon from First Class. Curriculum focuses on literacy, numeracy, and introducing more complex subjects like science and history. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Students engage in a variety of activities to foster creativity and social skills.

Third Class is the fifth year in primary school and typically accommodates students aged 8 to 9. In this year students continue to expand their foundational skills in subjects like English, Irish, mathematics, and science. The curriculum advances to include more complex reading, writing, and math concepts.

Our Junior Autism class offers a supportive learning environment for Autistic students from Junior Infants to First Class. The pupil-teacher ratio in these classes is 6:1 and pupils are further supported by two Additional Needs Assistants (ANAs) per class. The pupils get the opportunity to access learning alongside their mainstream peers for some part of the day or week, or for some activities or subjects, in line with their needs and abilities.
