It has been a term full of construction here in Third Class! The children have been creating a variety of different structures using a number of different resources. The children worked collaboratively with our K’Nex boxes to read instructions, identify steps and build different items. In science we explored the concept of force. Within this topic the children were set the task of building the tallest tower possible using spaghetti and marshmallows (we may have eaten a marshmallow or two along the way!) We also used the Keva planks to create towers, ramps, bridges and marble runs. The impulse to construct was further explored in the arts this term with the children making pom poms out of wool. The children expanded this idea to make decorations with their pom poms and some children even made tassels for their decorations. All in all it has been a busy, and much loved term of construction. What will we be exploring next term? You’ll have to come back to our website in the New Year to find out!
Until then, have a wonderful winter break,
Grace, Caitríona & all the children of Third Class
