As we wrap up Term 1 in a few weeks, we want to celebrate all the exciting and enriching activities we’ve enjoyed together. It’s been a fantastic start to the school year, and our students have been busy learning, collaborating, creating, and having fun!
Getting to Know Each Other with Collaborative Games We kicked off the term with team-building activities designed to help everyone get to know each other better. Everyone worked together, solved challenges, and formed new friendships while playing fun and collaborative games.
Unleashing Creativity Through Art Creativity has been flowing through 4th class! Students explored their artistic talents with a variety of projects, from painting and drawing to sculpture and collage. Each piece was a unique expression of their imagination, and we couldn’t be more proud of their artistic achievements.
Fossil Freaks Program with UCC We were thrilled to partner with University College Cork for the Fossil Freaks program. Our students got hands-on experience in paleontology, learning about fossils and the creatures that once roamed our planet. This exciting program sparked curiosity and brought science to life in a truly engaging way.
STEM Problem-Solving Challenges Our students tackled STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenges, working together to build solutions and solve real-world problems. Through hands-on activities and creative thinking, they learned important skills in teamwork, design, and problem-solving.
Using Chromebooks for Research Students have been using Chromebooks to enhance their learning, accessing a wealth of online resources for their studies. From exploring topics in history to researching scientific concepts, these tools have been a key part of our learning journey.
Visiting the Library We made regular visits to the library. Whether it was for a quiet read, exploring new books, or discovering exciting new genres, the library was a place of adventure and discovery for everyone.
Collaboration with Research Ireland & Microbiology Ireland for Science Week
This Term, we were incredibly fortunate to partner with Research Ireland and Microbiology Ireland at UCC to create a truly exciting project for Science Week. Our theme this year was Technology, and our students dove headfirst into exploring the many ways in which technology intersects with science.
Through this collaboration, our students created a range of innovative projects that were displayed at the Marina Market as part of the Science Fair. The projects showcased the creativity, problem-solving, and scientific curiosity that our students bring to the classroom.
A special congratulations to Adam, Hugh, and Byron who took home 2nd place in the competition! Their project stood out, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication. This experience was a fantastic opportunity to connect with real-world science and technology, and it inspired all of us to think outside the box and push the boundaries of what we can create.
Fun and Enjoyment at School Above all, it’s been a term filled with fun, laughter, and enjoyment. Learning should be exciting and enjoyable, and everyone has embraced opportunities to grow, explore, and have a good time, and should be very proud of all their hard work.
As we look ahead to the next term, we’re excited for even more opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve together. Have a look at the pictures below for some of our highlights in pictures.
Here’s to a fantastic Term 1 and an even brighter Term 2!
