Our Junior Infants boys and girls have settled in very well in their first half-term of “big” school at South Lee. We have had lots of fun so far and have learned so much already in the process!
The first few weeks were spent getting to know each other, making new friends and learning about school life. We created colourful name art and painted self-portraits to represent how everyone belongs in our class.
We have loved taking part in Forest School! We have been learning about trees and spiders and spending lots of time in the school garden and exploring in the forest trail near our school. We’ve collected signs of Autumn, studied leaves and made spider webs by weaving wool around twigs and branches.
In October, we were learning through the theme of ‘Fun On The Farm’. We had lots of fun planting, growing and harvesting vegetables in the small world area! We made paper plate farm animals and worked as shopkeepers in the Farm Shop. We worked our muscles to turn cream into butter by shake, shake, shaking! The team work paid off in the end and we enjoyed our homemade butter on cream crackers.
We warmly welcome our new Junior Infants to the South Lee school community and look forward to seeing them learning and growing with us in the years ahead. How lucky we are to have such wonderful children join our school this year!
