September has been a wonderful month in First Class. We spent a lot of our lessons learning through collaborative activities which has given the children a great chance to work with friends and reconnect after the summer holidays. The children love learning together and it is amazing to watch them sharing, taking turns, problem-solving and listening to each other.
In September we went on nature walks to identify features of the changing seasons. We identified some Irish trees, their leaves and their seeds. We have a very creative autumn display in our room which is full of our learning from these walks. This month we also explored instrument playing. The children got to play xylophones, djembe drums and other untuned percussion instruments. In maths we’ve covered a variety of different topics. We explored representing numbers in different ways, we explored fractions and we explored how to record information using tally marks.
It has been an exciting and fun-filled start to the year. Please come back to our page on this website to read about our adventures throughout the year.
