What a bittersweet feeling coming to the end of an amazing school year! We have had countless days of fun and put in consistent work in the classroom; and, as a result, we have all grown so much and become far more confident learners.
In literacy, we have studied poetry and developed our writing by focusing on trying to use new vocabulary words in context. We worked on taking simple thoughts and ideas and developing them into robust written sentences, and we often used our computer skills to accomplish this by creating documents and submitting them into our Google Classroom!
In our SESE lessons, we have discussed how the film industry works and highlighted the wide variety of jobs in the industry such as sound engineers, actors, directors, producers, camera technicians, illustrators, etc. We also learned how boats float and completed some water experiments along the topic.
We made it out to Clonakilty to learn a little about the history of Ireland, particularly in the West Cork region in the early 20th century. We also visited Elizabeth Fort and St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral for the Helios exhibit which synthesized art, science, history and a bit of local culture!
In maths, we worked hard on identifying the time and applying it in context. We got a taste of fractions and division, and we continued to work towards mastering our multiplication facts!
Another highlight worth mentioning from term 3 was our very fun trip to Supervalu to work on our life skills such as making a shopping list, identifying common grocery items, and navigating the supermarket to locate them.
It was an unforgettable year full of joy and community spirit. Hope everyone has a restful, yet fun-filled summer break!
