Thank you for checking back in to see what we have been upto in 2nd Class. October was a busy but spooktacular month for us! We were happy to see midterm come our way after putting in a huge effort in class again this month!
In Maths, we explored the world of fractions – who knew sharing was a whole part of the Maths world! We dreamed of eating the pizzas that we were dividing into fractions over and over again. We now know that there is no such thing as ‘a bigger half’! We also became data collectors and data analysts through our Maths learning this month. We can show data in pictograms. We discovered that Pepperoni pizza is very popular in our class! We very happily teamed up with Tracey’s Senior Infant Class to complete a maths trail for Maths Week – look at the pattern we created together!
We explored the world’s of some animals through reading reports on them in literacy. We learned about the lives of rainforest animals, gorillas, snakes and crocodiles. We explored where they live, what they eat and what they can do. We then became report writers and wrote a whole report about the orca whale!
We were counting down the days to the Halloween midterm break, though not for the time off school of course! We were eagerly waiting to celebrate in school with a ‘spooky disco’ and to try out some of the Halloween traditional games that we had learned about during our SESE lessons. We are looking forward to the next half-term ahead!
